To say London has a strong metal scene is a massive understatement.

Our resident headbangers adhere to the genre with almost religious devotion – the “disciples of metal.” Leading these disciples are none other than London’s legendary lords of death metal, The Blood Of Christ!

The band’s accolades are staggering, having dominated stages worldwide. They’ve played with some of metal’s most iconic ensembles, including Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse, Opeth, Incantation, Kataklysm, Cryptopsy, Cradle Of Filth, and more!

Founded by brothers Jeff and Jason Longo in 1994, The Blood Of Christ was influenced by the primal thrashings of Morbid Angel, Carcass, and Enslaved. Since its inception, the band have been generally recognized for its innovations surrounding the core conventions of the death metal genre.

Genre Bending, Genre Breaking

Guitarist and co-founder Jeff Longo describes The Blood of Christ as epic dark metal. The Blood Of Christ’s sonic structure consists of sudden yet seamless transitions in tempo and time signature — often within one song. The band has an incredible ability to shift from melodic sections to pulverizing rhythms and patterns fluidly.

In the beginning, The Blood Of Christ’s lyrical themes were focused on anti-religion and anti-establishment. Over time, the band began to explore other topics, such as anti-capitalism and dystopian societies.

Twenty-seven years in, they’ve undergone a metal-morphosis, of sorts. Their beginnings saw an elemental fusion of black, doom, and death metal. After a 14 year hiatus, their resurrection introduced aspects of grind, sludge, and hardcore punk into their sound. Ethos intact, The Blood Of Christ’s compositions still maintain their darkened edge of epic brutality.

A Discography of Anthologies

To date, The Blood Of Christ have released several demos and four studio albums, including 1997’s Anthology I: …A Dream To Remember, 2002’s Anthology II: As The Rain Gently Falls, 2003’s Anthology III: Breeding Chaos, and 2018’s Anthology IV: Unrelenting Declivity Of Anguish. More recently, the group released two split albums: 2019’s Bilateral Carnage with Ottawa’s Deformatory and 2020’s Eastern Beast / Western Wolf with Tokyo’s Vomit Remnants.

Currently, their lineup consists of Jeff Longo on guitars, Jason Longo on drums, and Hank Bielanski, of Strings Of Ares and God Helmet, on bass and vocals. The Blood Of Christ is currently writing punishing new material to unleash upon the world!
