I know why Santa does it – Because it’s better to give than receive. Way better.

I don’t know how Santa does it — give out billions of gifts. In one night.

In recent months, I have been trying to give out just eight (or so) Jack Richardson London Music Awards. They are the rightful property of talented musicians — but didn’t get handed out on the gala night itself.

Darryl Bedard was with Mulletcorpse when he and his bandmates won their JRLMA trophy. Now some Mulletmen, including Bedard, have taken their taste for metal and humour to a new project called Dyer.

It happens.

The Jacks have given out hundreds of trophies on gala night going back to 2005.

My JRLMA colleagues do a super job of getting the nominees to the gala and making sure the hardware gets to the winners… On that night… Bingo.

However, a change in administration left a few orphan pieces of hardware from the 2010s still looking for the right home.

So how has it been going?

Slow and unsteady as the months have rolled on,

Big joy will be mine on Sunday, Dec. 17, at Aeolian Hall when Rant Maggie Rant is to receive the 2013 traditional folk trophy.

“We thought someone stole that award!” the Ranters tweeted merrily, “But seriously we hope to see you at the @AeolianHall on 12/17/17.”

Added Aeolian Hall; “We say @JamesSReaney comes and gives them the @JRLMALondon in person at the show Dec 17.”

In person or not, RMR is off my slow Santa list.

So that will leave just one trophy. which goes to wells — the Toronto project of songwriter/producer Kate Carswell, Who was Katie Wells when she won the youth category in 2013.

Here is my Santa vow.

Ms wells, if the JRLMA needs to get you the Wells Fargo wagon to hand off that trophy, we will do it.

The giving has been sweet. DJ Ruckus now has two trophies to replace the ones stolen from his mother’s house in Jamaica. Mulletcorpse, Antler River Project and Bill Durst — all handed off.

One mystery was solved with the help of Josie London and River City Ransom figured out a 2014 winner called Rockology was actually guitar hero Scott Szeryk.

This trophy needed some help to find its way to Scott Szeryk, commander of the Rockology project.

So after Sunday Dec. 17. it will just be one trophy left with a week to beat Santa who empties his bag of gifts on Dec. 24.

Maybe not.

DJ Ruckus did say he needs to track down his 2017 JRLMA trophy. Apparently, DJ Zoltan graciously accepted on his behalf.

So here is the plan.

Zoltan, that delivery is all yours.

This elf is hanging up his Santa hat.
