May the Grickle anticipation begin!
Roozbeh Showleh is a well-known figure in the London, ON music scene. If you’re a vinyl lover, chances are you have been to his store Runout Records at 122 Dundas Street. If you haven’t and are curious, we got you covered: Fuse Contributor Ioulia Krisak talked to Roozbeh about his store and his love for music earlier this year.
But Roozbeh doesn’t just sell records, he also spins them. He dazzled everyone at LondonFuse’s Launch Party and he’ll be playing at Grickle Grass too. Personally, I can’t wait for his set – so much so that I had a little chat with Roozbeh to find out more about what makes him tick.
So, Roozbeh, let’s see what’s up…
Why do you play the music you play?
It makes me wanna move my body and I hope those hearing it feel like dancing too!
What is your live music ritual?
Lots of Pabst, Rolling Rock or San Pellegrino.
What do you do when you’re not playing music?
Eat cured meats and drink red wine.
What experience on the road has inspired you most?
The cab ride to the party is the calmest part of the night.
Grickle Grass is a DIY festival. What is the most DIY thing about your work?
Until I attain Selecta status (see urban dictionary), I still have to use my own hands to play from my own stash.
Alright, side note:
We did check Urban Dictionary… for our non-musician readers, a Selecta, originally, Selector, “is the one who selects and passes the records (vinyls) to the person that is playing them on the sound system”. The more you know!
You can check out more Roozbeh on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. And while you’re at it, stay up to date on what’s happening and who’s playing at Grickle right here on LondonFuse with Grickle Talks, every day leading up until the festival.
Get your tickets right here and we’ll see you on the May 27!
