Donations make the world go round…
Giving Tuesday, (or in cyber speak, #GivingTuesday) takes place every year following American thanksgiving and, London, today is the day. In its seventh year, this movement began to “mark the beginning of the giving season” following Black Friday and Cyber Monday in the USA and Canada. In the same way that retailers participate in the Black Friday and Cyber Monday frenzies to support the economy, #GivingTuesday aims to support the community through donations of funds, resources, and time to charities and not-for-profits all over the world.
It’s a great way to give back, whether monetarily or by becoming a volunteer. Did you know that LondonFuse is 100% volunteer-run?
Here at LondonFuse, we’ve made it very clear that we are about all things local. So, this #GivingTuesday, we suggest looking inwards to your own community, and in this case, you guessed it, London!
Of course, we could simply recommend making a donation to LondonFuse (ahem… www.londonfuse.ca/donate… just saying), but there’s so much more. The Forest City is home to so many incredible organizations that help build community and make this city a better place to be. As well, so many organizations, like us here at Fuse, rely so heavily on the generosity of people who share in the love of what we do. There are grants, yes, but NFP’s and charities are in constant need of further resources, whether funds or friendly volunteers, every little bit helps.
Being an active member of your community comes in many different forms but one wonderful and extremely beneficial place to start is through donations. Without the generosity and without volunteers, many incredible organizations in this city would not exist. So, if you’re able or willing, consider taking part in #GivingTuesday and making a difference in your community through organizations that are continuously trying to build it.
We’ve been very lucky and very humbled by the generosity of the community so far. Without donations, we wouldn’t be able to train our talented volunteers, bring you locally produced content, or promote the vibrant arts and culture community in London. So, we ask again, if you are to partake in #GivingTuesday, please consider supporting those in your city who aim to make it the best version of itself. Those who work tirelessly to show London, and the rest of the world, just why it is the Forest City is unlike any other place, and why we’re so proud to call it home.
Thank you London, we couldn’t do what we do without you.
You can make a donation to LondonFuse by mail to:
