Two amazing things happened on the night of Sept. 30.
Forest City Records launched into the London music scene and Mountain of Wolves released their album, Poison.
The culmination of local vendors and local musicians fit perfectly with the vision of FCR founders Jamie Faye Ryan and Richard Gracious. Both were pleased with the turnout and the vibe of the opening, taking place under the twinkle lights of Design House.
“We are truly blown away by the amount of support we have received prior to the event, as well as at the event.” Ryan and Gracious exclaimed.
There was a sense of intimacy for those in the crowd – everyone was there to support the revitalization of London music.
Ryan and Gracious wanted to highlight the volunteers that supported them through the process of setting up the event, keeping things running smoothly and keeping the wine flowing.
Openers A Pair’s 3 set the scene beautifully, spreading feel good vibes with haunting harmonies and soulful music spread. The night was rounded off by the smooth grooves of WOLF SAGA DJ.
However, the spotlight was on the release of Poison, and Mountain of Wolves’ energy was infectious.
No one in the audience could resist dancing.
The album has held the top spot at CHRW for two consecutive weeks.
The band described it as a departure from their more folk-centric sound. Poison portrays a more rock and soul sound, and the members of the band believe it’s an accurate reflection of Mountain of Wolves itself. In their own words, it is a “musical style that suits us, and we in turn suit.”
The band couldn’t have asked for a better turnout, they said. The venue was great, the other artists were great and the crowd came out to show some love and fill the room with positive energy.
The event’s success was a foretelling of the good things to come out of FCR. Ryan and Gracious seem to have come across a formula that appeals to Londoners.
