For the love of food, and London’s finest… part two!

Back in the summer, we brought to you our picks for some of London’s newest (and tastiest!) restaurants. And now we’re doing it again!

So, here at Fuse, we’re all about ringing in the new year with new experiences, ones that broaden your horizons and introduce you to the London, ON you may not have known prior to. With that in mind, let’s check out some of the new gastro gems that have recently popped up in the Forest City…

1 – Plant Matter Bistro (244 Dundas Street)

You’ve known and loved Wortley’s Plant Matter Kitchen over the past year and now you can enjoy the wholesome, organic goodness, right downtown.

The intention to serve London plant-based dishes and using quality ingredients remains the same but now with a fine-dining touch. Enjoy both lunch and dinner options inspired by the kitchens of Italy, Mexico, Korea, and France that are totally guilt-free, and entirely full of flavour.

2 – Fresno’s – The Italian Table (581 Richmond Street)

Having been open for a few months now, Fresno’s quickly settled into the culinary wonderland that is Richmond Row.

Spruce on Wellington opened last January but just in case you haven’t checked it out yet, we implore you, do so!

They offer “classically prepared food, with a modern twist” and just the sight of some these dishes will surely have you salivating. With brunch, lunch, and dinner options galore, there’s something for everyone. On top of all that, they offer cooking classes so you can learn how to make some of their masterpieces, in the comfort of your own home.

4 – Hunter & Co. (349 Talbot Street)

As one of the newest kids on the culinary block in London, Hunter & Co. aims to “offer a unique and adventurous culinary experience.”

With such menu staples as roast bone marrow, “tongue ‘n’ cheek,” bacon-wrapped-bacon, and pig ear poutine, this menu will never cease to intrigue you… while making that stomach rumble. For a brand new experience, from location to meal choice, Hunter & Co. is exactly where you want to go.

5 – Vito’s Italian Restaurant (196 Dundas Street)

The authentic Italian, family-owned Vito’s on Dundas opened its doors in late October 2017. Since then they’ve been serving up breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks, and doing some catering too, all while making hungry Londoners very happy.

When you go, you can immediately feel the love, not only for the food itself, but for the entire atmosphere… considering it’s in one of the most interesting spaces we’ve ever seen downtown! Have a hankering for anything from pizza to pasta, espresso to desserts? Then Vito’s is the one for you.

6 – Storm Stayed Brewing Company (169 Wharncliffe Road S.)

We know, Storm Stayed isn’t a restaurant proper, it’s a brewery. But, with its selection of delectable beers, welcoming atmosphere, and scrumptious food options (brought to you by The Gathering Plate), we’re certain it belongs on this list.

Enjoy a flight, and perhaps a flavour shot or two, along with hearty, warming items like soft pretzels, gourmet grilled cheese, a variety of sandwiches, and more. Trust us, with the winter we’ve been having, to get storm stayed in this place… now that would be a treat.

7 – V Food Spot (210 Dundas Street)

There has been an explosion of delicious vegan and health food restaurants in London within the past few years. V Food Spot is the latest in this vein and we can certainly say it will not disappoint.

Having taken over the old Irie Bites location inside the London Corner convenience store, this gem offers up some of the tastiest, and healthiest, items around. With options like Jamaican patties, Reuben sandwiches, and the best potato salad you’ll ever taste, V Food Spot is sure to be a local favourite in 2018.

8  – Pastamancers (467 Dundas Street)

Here at LondonFuse, we really love food and if you’ve been following us over the past few months, you’d know we REALLY love Pastamancers!

This little east end culinary nugget opened in the fall and since then, they’ve been making Londoners (and countless CCH and Beal students) very happy. Complete with wizardry and sorcery puns, take your pick from an array of handmade pastas, homemade sauces, and “enhancements” in the form of meat and veggie options. Trust us, Pastamancers is your new favourite restaurant!

Get out there, London! There’s so much to do and SO MUCH to eat. Oh, and everybody’s favourite, Londonlicious is coming at you from January 12 to February 4… so make sure to indulge and experience a place you never have before!

This list is of course NOT exhaustive, these are great places we’ve experienced lately. So, if we missed something, let us know about the new and tasty restaurants you’ve indulged in recently!
