This is one of the best mash-ups I've heard in ages and I thought I would share.
”May day Revisited” is a free one-off single from Swedish music producer Mojib (Staffan Ulmert). The track reconstructs the song ”May day”, released in 2007 by UNKLE featuring The Duke Spirit. Using the vocals of Liela Moss the track is being mashed together with lo-fi indie act The Radio dept.... ”Mayday Revisited” is being distributed for free and was originally planned to be followed up with Mojibs full length album project ”UNKLE Revisited”. The LP was to feature UNKLE songs being remixed, or revisited as the title suggests, by Mojib featuring collobrations with other artists. Due to label disbutes and sample clearance issues the project was canceled in 2009. "May Day Revisited" is one track that made it out alive. The song is being distributed by Bad Panda Records, a netlabel dedicated to free music.
So, the bad news is that we won't be hearing any more awesome singles from Mojib featuring UNKLE. The good news is that this single can be downloaded (for free!) at http://www.mojib.net/.
Mojib also links to another track where you can hear a demo that includes Portishead: http://www.mojib.net/mp3s/Revisited_outtake.mp3. Again, I'm saddened that the album didn't work out but thankfully we have labels like Bad Panda.
