Having studied at Ircam, an avantgarde center for the arts in Paris, Emilie Simon does reflect an experimental edge to her music. Her last album (The Big Machine) is on the pop side and, as Peter Kirn from CDM points out, souds like a neu Kate Bush record at times. Despite this her recent work still engenders a sense of musical exploration.

Take for instance her homebrew performances shot in her Brookyln apartment back released on youtube last month. Not only is Emilie employing the use of a Yamaha Tenori-On but several several other cool electronic gadgets.
