People forget about the trails by the river more than anything else in the city. They're well kept, they're gorgeous, and in less than 30 seconds you can go from downtown to forest by the river. It's amazing.
To help remind people, I took some pictures of the trails by my place. I'm not a pro photographer, but I don't think you have to be to see why the trails are a gem in this city.
These trails are the reason I go for runs twice a week (and therefore am not a fatty). They're the one place in the city where I feel like we're called the "forest" city for a reason. I can run from my place downtown on King to Western Campus, and back again on another trail on the other side of river. That's only the North leg of the main trails. There's still three other directions/legs, and a number of independent trail areas throughout the city.
Head here for a little more info, or just check out the map (large pdf). You can also pick up a copy of the map all over town.

These are some fantastic pictures. If it wasn't so hot out and I wasn't so lazy, I'd like to go for a stroll myself...lol
I certainly will not be going for any strolls tonight! Crazy hot!
