The 'Grickle' Trunk
A couple of Saturday's ago the London Children's Museum played host to an entire day and night focused on sustainable living. In a joint effort between Growing Chefs! Ontario, The London Children's Museum, London FUSE and 379 Collective the first (annual?) Grickle Grass Festival took place that had children of all ages involved, engaged and having fun.
Personally I hadn't been to the Children's Museum since I was a kid but upon arriving in the morning I remembered what the place was all about. During the day I had fun exploring the building, trying some delicious locally grown vegetables, listening to great music (I highly recommend Matthew and the Birds) and seeing the excitement in the kids faces while they did yoga, dance, planted in the garden and learned how to make their own salad dressing.
During the evening a series of performers came to the museum to host a night of music that saw performers on all 3 floors of the Children's Museum. I can't think of a better venue for such a night of entertainment. Attendees went up and down through the floors the entire evening, listening to music in places such as the Tree Top Room, the Whale Room and the Space Room and when the performers who take stage in the Arctic Room actually dress the part, looking like they belong on a set with Bob & Doug, you know you're in for a great night of entertainment.
I figured that given the venue and the fact that we are all children at heart, why not set up a photo booth and get everyone acting like a kid once again. Far too often people act so damn serious and I thought it would be good to get them to let loose and have fun. So I set up a very make shift photo booth, provided some props and named it The "Grickle" Trunk and got even the most reserved of people acting like kids.
Check out the shots and keep your eyes out for such photo booths at future events.
