Have you ever wanted to be in a Flash Mob or see one live in action? Here’s your chance! The City of London is coordinating a Flash Mob to promote water conservation in London and we need volunteers.

A Flash Mob is a group of people that assembles suddenly in a public place to perform and draw attention to a cause they are promoting. Our Flash Mob is being planned for August 23 at 12 p.m. at Victoria Park. We’ll videotape the event and upload to the City’s YouTube page.

The event will unfold as follows:

1. 40 volunteers are needed to carry 18 cubes, each representing 1 cubic metre of water which all together symbolize the average household’s monthly water consumption in London. The pre-assembled cubes will be carried from City Hall to Victoria Park where they will be set up for display.

2. 18 volunteers are needed to carry water conservation signage to hang on the cubes that highlight water saving tips and citywide water initiatives.

We are looking for individuals who would like to help out! This would require you to volunteer about one hour of your time from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm on Tuesday, August 23. If you have any questions or would like to participate in the Thirst Mob please contact Kalen Pilkington 519-661-2500 ext. 7363 or email at kpilking@london.ca for more details.
