This fall's English department dramatic production is Middleton's The Revenger's Tragedy, a gruesome and satirical play about revenge and its often unpredictable and chaotic consequences. This Jacobean revenge tragedy, written a few years after Shakespeare's Hamlet, features a similarly conflicted, witty, and histrionic hero, as well as a dramatic personae of grotesque and often hilarious supporting characters. For our production, we have assembled a lively and enthusiastic student cast and crew; and we plan to exploit Conron Hall's eerie similarity to an indoor theatre (such as the Blackfriars) in London, England, circa 1607, to the hilt.
