Join Poetry London for an evening of reading and performance with interdisciplinary artist Alexis O'Hara. Prior to each reading, Poetry London workshop coordinator Michelle Doege facilitates a writing workshop with a discussion of poetry by the evening's featured poets an...d two workshop participants. Those interested are encouraged to bring a poem and arrive at 6:30 pm. No registration is required.
ALEXIS O'HARA is a trilingual interdisciplinary artist based in Montreal. Her practice exploits allegories of the human voice via electronic improvisation, video and installation. In 2001, she released a book of poetry entitled (more than) Filthy Lies (Spaghetti Dance); and in 2002, her first album, In Abulia (Grenadine Records). Her eclectic performances have been presented in a variety of contexts, from spoken word to live art festivals, new music and “women & technology” events in Slovenia, Austria, Mexico, Germany, Spain, The United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Finland, Denmark, Belgium and across Canada. SQUEEEEQUE, her first sound installation, an igloo built of speakers, has been presented in Berlin, Lille, Paris, The Hague, Calgary and Montreal. Her second full-length CD, Ellipsis, was released on & records in November 2010.
