LONDON,ON - Photography meets mixed medium is what you can expect for December 2nd show at The Arts Project titled Movement. Greg Benz and Andrew “Andy Capp” Gavin-Hicks, both London natives have combined their works for the first time on display here at home. Movement is a combination of realism and non-traditional techniques and the contrast between both artists is what set this show apart.

About the artists:
Greg Benz, lives in London, Ontario and is a proud Beal Art Graduate. Greg has been painting for over a decade. He is an artist whose work engages the viewer through the use of non-traditional painting techniques and the viewers imagination. His abstract landscapes and digital prints have quickly gathered a dedicated base of collectors.

Greg also runs a successful T-shirt screen-printing company (www.freshinkapparel.com) where he controls all graphic design. His work, which is mostly acrylic on canvas, has been shown at the AGH (Art Gallery of Hamilton), solo shows at The Arts Project in London, as well as a handful of galleries in Kingston. Andrew ‘Andy Capp’ Gavin-Hicks, currently lives in London, Ontario. Following an intense passion for film, but in his own words, didn’t know a Monet from a Mondrian, Andrew decided that he should go for a less conventional film education completing a BA in INTEGRATED MEDIA from OCAD (Ontario College of Art and Design) in Toronto Ontario as of May, 2010. Andrew will add to his academic achievements by completing a MASTERS OF CINEMATIC STUDIES at the University Of Western Ontario while working on a second short film based on the prolific downtown New York art/music/video scene of the late 1970′s and early 80′s.

Andrew has designed countless posters for music events in Toronto, collaborated in the screen printing show THE WAY WE WERE, screened his thesis film at XSPACE for the Images Festival, and curated and exhibited collage work at the infamous PICTURES 2 appropriated art all-nighter. http://andrewgavinsfanart.wordpress.com
