The LONDON POTTERS GUILD is now accepting registration for March Break Clay Camps at the London Clay Art Centre, located at 664 Dundas Street. Morning and afternoon sessions are scheduled for the week of March 14 to March 18.
There is a choice of “Animal Safari” (9am to noon) or “Worms, Spiders, Butterflies & Bugs” (1pm to 4pm). These camps are suitable for children and teens between the ages of 8 and 14 with all levels of experience welcome. Students will try some of the basic pottery techniques such as pinching, slab building, coiling and even throwing on the potter’s wheel. Students will paint or glaze their creations.
The morning instructor is Sandy Harquail. She has a Bachelors of Fine Arts with a concentration in ceramics, from Eastern Michigan University and just completed her Bachelor of Education at the University of Western Ontario. The afternoon instructor is Penni Stoddart, an experienced potter with the London Potters Guild. She has 20 years teaching experience, including supply teaching with the Thames Valley District School Board.
