London Potters Guild wants kids and teens to play in the clay over March Break.

The LONDON POTTERS GUILD is opening the work studio at the London Clay Art Centre, located at 664 Dundas Street to kids and teens for March break.

This unique opportunity is a fun and educational experience for the children and teens from 8 to14 years of age. The camp is open to students with any level of experience. The one week course from Monday, March 15 to Friday, March 19 is available for either mornings from 9am to noon OR afternoons from 1pm to 4pm. With a maximum of 10 students per class, individual attention is given to all participants. Students will be able to try some of the basic pottery techniques such as pinching, slab building, coiling and even throwing on the pottery wheel!  All pieces will be painted or glazed, then fired in the kilns.

The instructor, Penni Stoddart is an experienced potter with the London Potters Guild, actively working in clay since 1996. Penni’s teaching career began as a teen, teaching learn to skate and learn to swim lessons to children as well as adults. Over the past 20 years she has taught in several different educational settings and is currently a supply teacher with the Thames Valley District School Board. In the summer of 2001, she set up a 19thcentury pottery at Fanshawe Pioneer Village in London Ontario and expanded the project each year until 2006. Her business now includes historically researched handmade pottery.

The recently opened London Clay Art Centre located at 664 Dundas Street, has been transformed over the past 18 months from a dilapidated, abandoned building into a state-of-the-art clay art facility. The London Potters Guild offers classes from beginners to advanced, from children to adults. The London Clay Art Centre is wheelchair accessible.
