Frontier College is seeking volunteer tutors for the 2010-11 school year!

Frontier College is a national literacy organization that believes that all Canadians have the right to achieve literacy. Currently 1 in 6 Canadian adults have difficulty reading something as simple as the headlines of a newspaper. It is our goal to change that statistic.

Our volunteer tutors work at nine partner organizations all around London.  We work with children and youth in after-school programs, reading circles, and homework clubs; and with adults working to achieve their high school equivalency diplomas. Training is provided to all volunteers.

If you have 2-3 free hours per week, this is a unique opportunity to make a difference in your community.  If you are interested in volunteering, we are holding orientation sessions Wednesday Sept. 22 and Monday Sept. 27 at 6pm in the Huron Room of the Dining Hall, on the left as you enter Huron College, 1349 Western Rd.  If you can’t make either of those sessions, don’t worry as there will be more sessions in the very near future.  For more information, email us at london@frontiercollege.ca or call 226-234-4963.

Note: For the safety of our learners, volunteers must undergo a screening process which includes a Police Records Check, paid for by Frontier College. More information will be provided at the orientation sessions.
