As you may already know, a cyclist Darcy Allan Sheppard was killed on Bloor St in downtown Toronto Monday night.

While the media emphasizes the figure of a perpetrator Michael Bryant, the former Attorney General, and trivializes it as an isolated incident, this is also the manifestation of larger problems we as cyclists face everyday: the car centred urban infrastructure and drivers' lack of respect for cyclists on the road.

Please join us this Friday for a memorial ride in solidarity with Mr. Sheppard and other nameless cyclists murdered on streets to demand bike safety in London and beyond!

We will be meeting at Victoria Park Bandshell around 6:30pm, and starting a ride at 7pm.

Hope to see you there!

IT'S TODAY EVERYBODY!

Although this is a bit of special occasion and we might feel enraged about this tragedy, I would like to ask everyone to refrain from aggressive behaviors that could provoke drivers and risk our safety as there will most likely be young children, elders, and people on wheelchairs in the ride. And to ensure safety and make this ride as inclusive and accessible as possible, we will be taking only one lane when we are on roads with two (unless of-course we have hundreds of people participating.)

The purpose of this ride is not to antagonize drivers but to educate all Londoners about the fact that cyclists have a right to be on the road, and our responsibility as citizens to share the public space with cyclists, drivers and pedestrians all alike, and most importantly, to HAVE FUN! So let's show them what we got!;)

Please keep spreading the word, and hope to see y'all there!
