Banished by the King Productions presents:
The Court Fool
St. Francis of Assisi is a towering figure in Western history – a man who tried to end the Crusades by speaking with Muslims, a friar who interceded with the Emperor on behalf of the birds, a mystic who claimed kinship with the sun and the moon.
Francis began a revolution in Western culture. But nowadays, all we seem to know about the man is that his statue makes a good addition to our gardens. The Court Fool re-imagines the saint’s life through the eyes of Francis’ curiously modern cousin “Angelo” - or “Ang” for short. Ang is a man who, as he himself indignantly proclaims, “was left out of the history books!” At Francis’ side, Angelo guides us through Francis’ painful disagreements with his father, through his humorous meeting with the Sultan and his eventual stigmata.
Appropriate for young and old, the play is a great introduction for anyone seeking to discover Francis’ continued relevance in our world.
