CHRW's Radio What Wave and garagepunk.com Present:

An evening of 60's garagepunk music for your dancing, drinking and dining pleasure, starring:

The Hook-Up (Montreal), The Reply (Toronto) & local lads The Fine Print all conspire to create a massive night of good times & music! Not to be missed! A Garagepunk.com and CHRW's Radio What Wave Production!! This show starts at 9:30PM on Saturday Nov 5th at Brennan's Beer Bistro...right next door to Grooves Records. A mere $5 cover to see and dance to 3 amazing bands!

The Hook Up: The Hook Up formed in January 2010 with the s...ingular mission of playing rock and roll the old way: through tube amps, drenched in reverb and grit; soaked with sweat and occasionally, blood. Their intention has always been to get dirty and not be “cool”. Inspired by the energy, sounds and performance antics of The Stooges, Chocolate Watchband, The Real Kids, Tav Falco's Panther Burns, Flat Duo Jets... and Thee Headcoats – to name a few – the band has a sound rooted in 1960s garage and psychedelic without being retro. The trio began gigging in early 2010, playing as much as possible anywhere that would have them and quickly developed a reputation as a band that could consistently deliver the kind of rock show you don’t often see anymore. Guitarist David Gilbert is renowned for his ability to direct the band, while wailing a guitar solo, while spinning circles on his back, while drenched in sweat – not to mention his catchy as all hell songs. The thunderous and rock solid rhythm section features the ravishing Jaime Haraldson on bass and the staunch and uncanny Josh Peters on drums. Together the threesome put on a no-holds-barred show with everything from surf sounds to punk rock wailers rounded out with surprising three part harmonies and killer vocals by both Gilbert and Haraldson. In late summer 2010 The Hook Up released their self-recorded EP. They were quickly snapped up by Montreal indie label Ricochet Sound Recordings. Their full-length debut "Tomorrow & Today" was released in May 2011.
The Hook Up were also included on the latest Garagepunk.com download compilation called 'Noises From The Hideout' released in Sept 2011.
In the fall and winter of 2011, The Hook Up plan to release two (cassette only) EPs of a live in-store performance and a live-to-air radio session. The cassettes will ONLY be available at this show! In late December 2011, The Hook Up will also release their second album, "Call Up the Devil."

The Fine Print: One of London's best kept secrets makes a rare live appearance, so you better get your dancing shoes on and ready! The Fine Print bring back the sound of the early Kinks, The Zombies (the UK 60's combo, not the flesheating variety), Yardbirds, The Creation and The Fleur De Lys....think mid 60's pop but with a couple of snarly intertwined guitars! Music made to get your feet moving and your mouth a grinning! So far, The Fine Print have released one CD, Standing Out which received plenty of airplay on local University radio station CHRW and made Radio What Wave's Top 10 for 2010!. And earlier this year, they released a cassette of demos and rarities to help celebrate Record Store Day.
