It would be criminal to miss the last days of this exhibition.
The exhibition uses 100 mug shots from the collection of the OPP Museum dating from 1886 through 1908 to explore the social phenomenon of portrait photography as it relates to criminality. The last day for this show is September 12.

So it is ethical to display images of the people deprived of freedom by the State and reduce them to objects simply becaused they are deemed "criminal" by the legal system?
Sorry... how exactly is this exhibition reducing these people to objects? The purpose of the exhibition is to "explore the social phenomenon of portrait photography as it relates to criminality." It's an appreciation of photography, of the time period, and the historical significance of it - it's purpose isn't to take a position on why these people are deemed criminals...
But what happens to the people who are photographed? Can they speak back to viweres as living beings? I guess I have to see how they present the photos, but my impression is that they were used as means to perferct the art of photography regardless of why they were in custody.
It is also questionable if they actually consented to be photographed.
