Walk friendly communities are the most desirable places to live, work, play, and do business! - walkfriendly.ca
Walking is the most natural form of transportation and we sometimes take it for granted. Every trip made, whether by automobile, public transit or by bike begins and ends with a walk. Sometimes walking is the quickest, easiest and best way to get from point A to B.
Walk London · a guerrilla wayfinding project
guerrilla (adj.): unsanctioned, self initiated and spontaneous interventions (intended to be in the public realm for the greater good)
wayfinding (n.): how you find your way from place to place (physical orientation)
Walk London hopes to enlighten people that most places they travel to aren’t as far by foot as they might think. By taking the time to walk, rather than drive, people can not only live healthier and more fulfilling lives but they can begin to interact with and better understand the environments that surround them and the people, places and things that these environments contain.
Whether you’re headed to your favourite local store, a place where everyone knows your name, a park to relax in, a hip art gallery or to city hall to get engaged, you’re only a few minutes by foot and it is probably quicker than you think.
Walk London was initiated by a small group of citizens who want to make London a healthier and better place to live. They delivered this project out of their love for London and all of the ‘cool things‘ happening within the city that are only a short walk away.
