Two Crown King have always impressed me with how they get their fans excited and cultivate an audience. Today they dropped a new single off an EP that should be hitting the public soon. The launch was pretty simple. They put up a domain, www.startshardstayshard.com, that counted down the seconds until the new single came out. There was a tiny box to throw your email into with the suggestion it might be worth your while.
Today the single dropped, and I've got an email with an iTunes "gift" and the new single and some pretty artwork. Neato.
The idea is nothing new, but it got me a little excited nonetheless. The Strokes are doing something pretty similar, and they've probably got a team behind them. Most bands simply don't bother doing anything vaguely original to promote a new release, product or show. If you follow TCK, they are pretty good about this kind of thing with everything they do. It's pretty rare the band does something and it's not put out there in a fun way, even if it's just lolsy .jpg worth a quick laugh.
Okay, so marketing aside, how is the new single? Check it out for yourself.
