Taylor Kirk has done it again!
I've been a very big fan of Timber Timbre for some time. I think it has to do with my love of folk music and anything eerie in music... I'm also a very visual music listener...
In Timber Timbre, Taylor Kirk weaves visual landscapes with some of the eeriest folk music you'll hear today.
Timber Timbre - Black Water by Arts & Crafts
Remember the Aeolian Hall concert? Remember how he kept asking to have the lights lower?
Anyway, lately I've been really getting into early soul music... directly and indirectly. Actually bringing it into my own music a bit. So you can imagine how happy I was when I heard the new Timber Timbre single, 'Black Water', and noticed the clear soul influence with the usual eerie folk elements.
Timber Timbre is very good at making the simple brilliant. Simple piano, drums, groove bass, Taylor's voice (with some back up during the chorus) and horns!
This song makes me so happy... a great song for our February blues as Taylor sings, "All I need is some sunshine..." (I'm sure the reason the single was released now...) Not a 'happy sunshine song'... but a tired and sad plea for the sun's warmth...
Anyway,
CHECK IT!
