In light of the protests all around the world on capitalism and the failing economy, non profit organizations benefitting local businesses must step up to the plate and make large moves with the community.

The Met is putting forth a challenge to not just activists but all Londoners to be conscious with all your shopping and spending especially this coming holiday season.

Purchase all your gifts from a local business or even better, and artisan who has handmade that special gift.

Feed your friends and family with good, healthy food purchased directly from the farmer or local advocate.

Please stop talking about supporting local, and put your hard earned money where your very powerful and true words are.

Realize that it is YOU and your household that are making the difference, you are either furthering this movement or holding it back.

It is you who will determine the success or failure of businesses like The Met, the Covent Garden Market, the Western Fair Market and the list goes on.

This is the plea that is being made all around the world. If you unplug the power cord, the machine will cease to operate.

Support local not only with your words and attention, but with your dollars.

It is your quality of life in our city that will benefit and ensure that you, your friends and your children will continue to prosper here.

Passionately and sternly,

Katie Wilhelm
