A Londoner hopes to stamp out the stigma surrounding mental illness.

But he needs London's help!

"No Need To Hide" submitted by London's own Brian Blatnicki, is one of five final designs in the Canada Post 2011 mental health stamp designing competition. No Need To Hide, depicts a young man's face breaking through his hands, which are attempting to cover his face.

"One in five Canadians will be affected by mental illness in their lifetime, two-thirds of those will never reach out for help beacuse of the stigma associated with mental illness" said Blatnicki. "To many people are afraid to admit they need help for fear of ridicule or judgment by others."

Brian's design was select from more than 300 designs were submitted. A panel of judges and the stamp advisory committee selected the top five submissions that best reflected the stamp's mission: to raise awareness of the mental health issue and break down the stigma attached to it.

Now it's up to Canadians, maybe more importantly Londoner's to pick the winner.   Blatnicki has expressed he hopes London will "be a leader in bringing a changed way of thinking regarding mental illness" and expressed his hopes to be able to donate the cash honorarium to a London based mental health charity.

I was very impressed by the quality of the designs we were asked to review," Jim Phillips, Canada Post director of stamp services, said in
