I think we should all be getting very, very excited for Forest City Beer Fest coming up on Saturday August 11th, right!? A mere $15 will get you a take home sampling glass, 3 drink tickets, access to 13 booths of craft brewed beer, and endless good times with friends, family, maybe even a few foes? Just kidding, all is most definitely bound to be holly jolly super supreme on this special evening. On top of all those great things there will be local food, dj’s, and live bands...this is a sure recipe for a wonderful night. Oh, and did I mention it starts at 4pm and runs ‘til midnight? Yes, just one more piece to this joyous puzzle.
Let’s talk about the participating breweries shall we? This will be like the finest of dining but in liquid form inside a pint glass. Some of the features will be Flying Monkeys, Hops & Robbers, Mill St., Railway City, Spearhead, and Steamwhistle amongst many others. For a full list of beers click here. If you’ve tried even one of those makers than you know that your taste buds are in for a treat! Are you thinking what I’m thinking? Yes. This evening will go down in history not only for the epic amounts of fun that will had by all but because, if it’s possible, no PBR will be consumed at apk Live during open hours. Blasphemous!
In all seriousness though, this is a great event put on by some even great-er people here in London in support of additional great people who do what they love and supply us with also great craft beers. See where I’m going with this..it’s going to be great! Tickets are available online at forestcitybeerfest.com as well as various outlets listed below. A few Qs NB:
Is it more of a tasting, or a party?
Will someone be discussing the beers, or are they just available?
What are these 'booths' of craft brewed beer you mention?
Important questions... Hope there are some good answers!
Okay here's the deal:
The Fest starts at 4pm so from then until about 9pm it will be more of a tasting, laid back atmosphere. After that, when the bands start playing, party time begins with the regular apk antics we all know and love. It starts so early so that it covers a range of atmospheres that will appeal to different people so just come whenever you want.
The brewers will be manning the booths (which are tables designated to each brewery) and can discuss the beers indepth with you and there also will be a few presentations in the earlier hours (i.e. before the bands)
Again, the booths are just table stations run by each brewer and you trade your tickets for samples and more tickets for larger portions
I hope these answers suffice! Let me know if there's anything else
(a big thanks to Aaron Brown for all the info!)
Sounds awesome - thanks!
