An A-team of open data enthusiasts have beta launched Emitter, a web application that allows you to enter your city or neighborhood into a search bar and get in-depth results of the area's air quality.

I tried it out using Downtown London, Ontario's coordinates and our biggest air pollution emitters are also our most cherished and economically valuable businesses. For example Labatt Breweries, located just south of downtown London measures at 78% on the scale ranging from Good to Bad polluters. The Kellogg Canada facility just down the street also measures in the red zone.

The results are provided from the 2008 National Pollutant Release Inventory. Currently you can only view data on air quality, but the team eventually wants to add more features (such as water pollution).

If you want to get into the details of the developers' methedology you can view it here: http://www.emitter.ca/index.php/methodology

So how does your neighborhood measure up? What do you think of the data?
